And Then the Walls Came Down!

For this Worcester, MA kitchen, one could describe the renovation with the words, “and then the walls came down!” It was the customer’s wish to “grow” the kitchen. We accomplished this by removing the slider in the current kitchen, opening a partial wall between the kitchen and living room, and adding a slider there for access to the patio and backyard.

An existing built-in pantry closet was also removed, but not missed. A tall pantry cabinet with very functional roll-out-trays was added in the new kitchen for easy access to its contents. Among the upgrades is a beautiful, 6-burner gas GE Café range as well as a BEST range hood, now venting 650 CFM to the exterior. Venting is a key component to remove cooking odors and contaminants from the home. A tray cabinet offers easy access to cutting boards and platters, which eliminates “lifting & tugging” from a messy pile. Another convenient feature is a special drawer to keep spices organized and at the ready.

The new island now comfortably seats 4, and is a gathering spot when friends and family visit. The homeowners also love the clean lines of the run of upper cabinets to the left of the refrigerator, which creates continuity and easy access. In the dining room, an old china cabinet was replaced with a very functional buffet server and storage unit. Behind the doors there are adjustable shelves and rollout trays to access china, linens, and serving pieces. The oversized pomegranate knobs mimic the beautiful wall paper.

How do the homeowners feel about their new kitchen?

“We love the quality of the cabinets and how functional the kitchen is, and we are no longer bumping into each other. We’ve had people over and no one wants to leave the kitchen, it’s a great space to entertain! The attention to detail from the designer to the install team and everyone involved was super!”

Now that’s what we love to hear!
